140 thousand Ukrainian companies are potential scammers

These companies are registered at mass registration addresses.

In Ukraine, more than 140 thousand companies are registered at mass registration addresses. That is, at addresses where more than 50 businesses are registered.

“More than 140 thousand companies are registered at mass registration addresses in Ukraine. With these addresses, Opendatabot determines the places where more than 50 different enterprises are registered. Verifying the mass registration address will help avoid fraud and potentially unreliable businessmen,” the message says.

The largest number of companies at such addresses were recorded in Kyiv - more than 101 thousand, or 71.8% of the total. The Kharkov and Odessa regions also made it into the top three - more than 8 thousand (6.3%) and 5 thousand (4.1%), respectively.

The same regions are leaders in the number of addresses.

In Kyiv, companies are registered en masse at 815 addresses (63.4%), in the Kharkov and Odessa regions - 105 (8.2%) and 65 (5.1%), respectively.

The largest number of companies in one place is registered in the capital: on Melnikova Street, 12. This is the legal address of 2,363 companies, of which 1,978 are active and 385 are inactive.

Registration of a company's location at mass registration addresses can be attributed to its negative characteristics when planning cooperation with such a company, says lawyer, arbitration manager, and bankruptcy specialist Denis Lihopek.

“In my practice, I have come across the frequent phenomenon that the location of a bankrupt company turns out to be precisely the places of mass registration. In particular, such re-registration most often occurs on the initiative of managers and business owners who are trying to avoid financial responsibility on the eve of the opening of bankruptcy cases. Sometimes, such a development of events can be planned even from the beginning of the company’s activities,” says Lihopek.
