The wife of the head of the department of migration control, combating illegal migration and readmission, Andrei Moraru, who was recently detained for a bribe of 20 thousand dollars, owns Bitcoin worth 58 million hryvnia.
Jewels worth about 3 million hryvnia were found in Morar's house. Earlier, in 2018, he was already detained for a bribe of 10 thousand dollars, but then the court acquitted him due to mistakes by investigators.
Moraru has declared little property since 2014. However, after 2018, property in the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district of the Odessa region disappeared from his reports.
In 2020, he filed a new declaration without indicating the place of work and salary of his wife, Anna Moraru, which means that she is officially unemployed. Despite this, on May 5, his wife declared 37 Bitcoin worth 57.7 million hryvnia, as well as 100 thousand euros and 200 thousand dollars in cash.
The declaration also states that his wife Anna owns a Rolex watch worth 550 thousand hryvnia, a Cartier ring worth 438 thousand hryvnia and a Cartier bracelet worth 2 million hryvnia. At the same time, Morar’s annual salary was only 345 thousand hryvnia.
A lot of property was registered in the name of the official’s mother, Natalia Moraru. For example, the Salwave enterprise in Odessa, with a capital of 3.4 million hryvnia, and a share in Odessa LLC Sergeevskaya, which is engaged in the retail trade of drinks.
