The secret password “potatoes” was supposed to help the Uhilians leave Ukraine and avoid conscription into the army, but it didn’t work out.
The State Border Service of Ukraine said it caught 5 men trying to use this “scheme” on their way to the border with Slovakia.
“Offenders had to say the control word “potato” when getting into the car that would take them to the border with Slovakia. The men were given instructions from different phone numbers, observing maximum secrecy measures. It didn’t help,” the department stated.
The Uhilants were caught 200 meters from the border with Slovakia. The service with the password “potato” cost them between $5,000 and $8,000.
According to the State Border Service, the men found “creative” smugglers for their escape from Ukraine through social networks. Those detained will be brought to justice.
Due to the war with Russia and the need of the Ukrainian army for mobilization resources, the Ukrainian border for travel to men is closed. The only exceptions are certain categories of Ukrainians. Therefore, many swindlers try to cross the border and flee Ukraine illegally, resorting to various schemes.
