500,000 hryvnia from the “reserves” of a drug dealer in the hands of an investigator after a search

He could be sentenced to up to 8 years in prison.

An investigator from the Zhytomyr region was served with suspicion for embezzling almost half a million hryvnia during the investigation of a crime, the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reports.

In March 2023, police detained a man on suspicion of manufacturing and selling drugs.

During the search, almost half a million hryvnia in various currencies were found and seized as material evidence.

However, the investigator did not transfer the funds for storage, and did not return them even after the court ordered the return of the seized money.

The policeman is suspected of appropriating someone else's property, which was in his jurisdiction, through abuse of his official position, committed on a large scale and under martial law (Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
