Andrey Naumov has been put on the international wanted list by Interpol

At the request of the State Bureau of Investigation, Interpol put the former head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Security Service of Ukraine Andrey Naumov on the international wanted list.

As noted, on August 26, 2024, a red alert was published in the records of the Interpol General Secretariat.

“Among other things, the SBI suspects the former official of fraudulently obtaining more than 3.2 million UAH during his tenure as head of a state-owned enterprise during 2019-2021,” the report says.

The ex-SBU general was detained on June 7, 2022 while trying to get from Serbia to North Macedonia in a vehicle containing €592,000, $120,000 and two precious stones.

The investigation is ongoing.

The SBI does not name the name of the former general, but the published photograph and details of the case indicate that we are talking about Andrei Naumov.

Naumov case

In January 2024, former general, ex-head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU, Andrei Naumov, who was sentenced in Serbia to a year in prison for money laundering, was released.

The court clarified that Naumov was released from a Serbian prison in early December 2023. However, due to the consideration of the appeal against the verdict, his documents were confiscated and he was forbidden to leave the country.

There are two criminal proceedings against Naumov in Ukraine. One concerns the simultaneous receipt of salaries at the SBU and at the state-owned enterprise where Naumov worked before joining the special service. The other is from the period when he headed the “Center for Organizational, Technical and Information Support for Exclusion Zone Management.” According to investigators, Naumov entered into a deliberately unprofitable agreement with a fictitious enterprise and awarded himself bonuses without reason.

From the summer of 2019 to the summer of 2021, Naumov headed the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU under the leadership of Ivan Bakanov. In October 2020, President Vladimir Zelensky awarded Naumov the military rank of brigadier general, although at the beginning of a full-scale invasion he stripped him of it, calling the ex-SBU official a “traitor.”

Naumov left Ukraine on the eve of the Russian invasion, and in the summer of 2022 he was detained in Serbia with undeclared cash - about 600 thousand euros and $120 thousand. There, a case was opened against him and he was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
