Anti-corruption official Vitaly Shabunin was accused of appropriating a car for the front

Well-known anti-corruption official Vitaly Shabunin, accused of evading military service, uses for personal purposes a car donated by the Paladins charity foundation for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“In the summer of 2023, the charitable foundation donated a Nissan Pathfinder to military unit A7376 (207th separate Troops battalion, 241st separate Troops brigade), which was received by the rifleman of the 1st rifle company of this battalion, soldier Shabunin. The car was not registered with the military unit, and when soldier Shabunin was transferred to the position of combat medic of the security platoon of the 101st brigade, he took this jeep with him. Moreover, serviceman Shabunin drives this car around Kyiv every day and even included the car in his declaration as being provided to him for indefinite free use,” notes journalist Vladimir Boyko.

A video also appeared of Vitaly Shabunin driving through the streets of Kyiv in a humanitarian vehicle in November and December 2023, although officially at that time he was allegedly in a military unit.

“According to the documents, on November 1, the activist allegedly returned to the east, but in fact he continues to drive around the capital in this car in November and even in December. Although this car would be very useful for a separate TrO brigade, because for the New Year they asked volunteers for a car. Meanwhile, a humanitarian vehicle not cleared by customs is used by soldier Shabunin to move around Kyiv,” the video says.

It is noted that a car with license plate KV2132 was imported on April 28, 2023 through the Rava-Russkaya-Grebnoye checkpoint in the Lviv region as humanitarian aid to the Paladins Charitable Foundation.

At the same time, Vitaly Shabunin’s family has two more cars. These are Chevrolet Orlando and Hyundai Tucson, for which Shabunin received the right of temporary free use last year. This is also noted in his declaration.

Let us remind you that the DBI is investigating two criminal cases against Shabunin - for evading mobilization and forgery of NACP documents.

As stated in the resolution of the Dneprovsky District Court of Kyiv, Anti-Corruption Officer Vitaly Shabunin has been listed as a combat medic of a military unit since October 2023. He receives wages for performing military tasks under martial law, but remains in Kyiv.
