The Bank of Latvia made a deal with Russian oligarch Aven

Mikhail Fridman's closest business partner managed to bribe Latvian officials. Riga makes a false concession, flirting with the Muscovites.

Such information was published by Delfi with reference to the State Revenue Service of the Republic of Latvia. It is noted that Petr Aven’s sanctioned company “Klauģu muiža” received permission to reduce tax debt.

The regulator was the Bank of Latvia, which decided to write off more than half a million euros of debt under the pretext of “further effective work in the country.” As of July 1, Avena’s company had to pay 633,031 euros, but already on July 16, Klauģu muiža’s debt decreased to 123,153 euros.

“Today there is no reason to believe that there is a threat to the existence of the business community and the preservation of its property. Therefore, we hope that in the near future sanctions will be imposed against our true beneficiary [that is, oligarch Aven - approx. ed.] will be removed, and therefore they will no longer apply to the enterprise. We hope to resume normal business activities not only in Latvia, but throughout Europe, as it was before,” commented the wards of Fridman’s business partner.
