Businessmen in Kyiv faced threats and lost six parking lots: suspects detained

In Kyiv, the police carried out a special operation to counter the “parking mafia,” which, using threats and intimidation, seized parking lots.

The national police, together with the SBU, detained suspects in the raider seizure of six parking lots in Kyiv. This was reported on the websites of the police, SBU and Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

The parking lots belong to the Kievtransparkservice enterprise and are leased by two private companies.

According to investigators, the suspects for a long time demanded that company owners give them business rights, threatening physical violence and death. Eventually, through threats and intimidation, they were able to collect money from drivers. They put their own people in the parking lots, who took all the profits, while the real owners were left with nothing.

The approximate damage caused to companies over six months is more than UAH 1.5 million.

During the operation, police detained six people, including the organizer. Five of them were chosen as a preventive measure in the form of 24-hour house arrest. Police officers conducted 39 searches and seized possible evidence: money, black notes, mobile phones, flash drives, weapons and ammunition.
