The Australian stock exchange ASX will allow trading of spot Bitcoin ETFs on the platform until the end of 2024. Bloomberg reports this, citing people familiar with the issue.
According to journalists, several issuers, including VanEck and local companies BetaShares and DigitalX, filed applications for a Bitcoin ETF at the beginning of the year.
Bloomberg added that the applications came after the volume of funds under management by ETF issuers in the United States reached $53 billion.
An ASX spokesperson confirmed that “the exchange continues to engage with a number of issuers who are interested in crypto asset ETFs.” However, he declined to comment further on the matter.
In February 2024, we reported that Australian interest in Bitcoin had increased following the approval of spot ETFs in the United States.
