As part of a partnership with leading payment systems Mastercard and Visa, the Bitcoin exchange Binance offered users to issue a crypto card for payments.
The first such cards appeared in September 2020, their issuer was Visa, and then MasterCard joined.
However, as of September 2023, MasterCard will no longer provide such a product for Binance users. In July, Visa stopped issuing crypto cards, Bloomberg reports.
According to journalists, the largest Bitcoin exchange may lose some clients. The Binance press service emphasized that the risks for the company’s business are minimal.
The decision of payment systems to stop issuing crypto cards will affect less than 1% of users from Latin America and the Middle East.
Others will be able to use such cards as usual.
At the beginning of March 2022, Binance stopped servicing cards issued by Russian banks.
