More than 100 thousand displaced people lost the right to assistance from the state: what happened

More than 100 thousand Ukrainians have lost their right to receive assistance for internally displaced persons since August 1, based on the results of verification carried out by the Ministry of Finance.

As First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daria Marchak said during the telethon, the decisions taken by the government are aimed at, on the one hand, streamlining who receives assistance for IDPs and, on the other hand, focusing the provision of this assistance specifically to those citizens who are without financial support will not cope.

“Therefore, on August 1, changes came into force that focused assistance specifically on IDPs, that is, as it should be. Because, according to the verification data of the Ministry of Finance, 109 thousand people who received assistance for IDPs actually lived abroad. For at least 1.5 months before August 1, they were constantly abroad and, thus, most likely, these citizens receive assistance from other states - they are not internally displaced persons,” said Marchak.

According to her, also thanks to verification, it turned out that almost 10 thousand of the citizens who received payments had already died. About 10 thousand more Ukrainians simultaneously received assistance, being registered in several communities. In addition, from September 1, the second part of the changes on the regulation of recipients of assistance for IDPs will come into force.

“If a family or recipient of assistance for IDPs, after the entry into force of the resolution - from mid-July to September 1 - either purchased a new vehicle (we are not talking about vehicles that are bought by volunteers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine), or purchased new housing or land, or domestic government loan bonds in the amount of over 100 thousand UAH... payments to such citizens will be stopped,” said the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy.

Marchak added that this will help continue payments to citizens who do not have such a “safety cushion.”
