The capital's budget for 2024, which is expected to be adopted in mid-December, allocates 20 times more funds for Kyiv's transport infrastructure than for the army.
As Kiev City Council deputy Andrey Vitrenko said, this topic is now causing a lot of discussion in the Kiev City Council.
“In the document that was submitted to the Kiev City Council, 13.4 million UAH were allocated for the “Defender of Kyiv” program for 2024, and 750 million UAH were allocated for the program to support the social security of defenders and defenders of Ukraine. Let’s just say that these funds are not for the actual provision of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but for the social solution of the problems of defenders and defenders,” Vitrenko said.
Social security means improving housing conditions and providing specialized assistance. Vitrenko added that the majority of the deputy corps does not support the draft budget. Discussions are currently ongoing. The worst thing, according to Vitrenko, is again not the city’s budget during the war, but the road budget.
“I don’t like the main priorities of the activity. We have a discussion going on all the time. For the Department of Transport Infrastructure - 21 billion UAH out of 68 billion UAH. In terms of income, the city budget is 68 billion UAH, in terms of expenses 83 billion UAH, of which 21 are for the Department of Transport Infrastructure. That is, these are roads and, as they write, the development of transport infrastructure,” Vitrenko added.
