In a country where every order for a car from the budget becomes a reason for discussion, the DOZORRO project provided Ukrainians with the opportunity to consider which cars were purchased by various government agencies and for what purpose.
According to the project, last year 3.8 thousand car purchases were made on Prozorro for a total amount of UAH 3.7 billion.
Finding themselves in conditions of limited budgetary resources, government agencies preferred to purchase economical models. The leader among them was the budget crossover Renault Duster, which accounted for 42% of the total number of purchased cars.
It is followed by the compact Renault Express van and the Mitsubishi L200 all-wheel drive pickup.
Interestingly, 73% of new cars cost less than UAH 1 million. The largest number of orders among government agencies were made by the police, SBU and military units, their share was 63%.
The National Police stands out among everyone - the main department and its divisions bought more than 70% of specialized vehicles based on Renault Duster. Other popular models include the Toyota Hilux and Skoda Octavia.
However, some state-owned enterprises have also updated their fleets.
Last year, the scandalous State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” purchased 186 cars for a total amount of UAH 224 million.
Mitsubishi L200 all-wheel drive pickups took first place in terms of the number of vehicles purchased – 97 units worth UAH 137 million. At the same time, the cost of each car varied from 1.4 to 1.5 million UAH. They are followed by 40 Renault Dusters for 840 thousand UAH and 33 Suzuki Jimny SUVs for 1.1 million UAH.
The company's fleet also includes 10 Skoda Octavia, 5 Peugeot Landtrek and Opel Zafira. However, representatives of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” refused to respond to a request for the purpose of these vehicles.
Non-standard purchases especially stand out, including:
In times of military conflict and crisis, businesses could look to previous generation models or clearly define the purpose of using these vehicles to justify such significant budget expenditures.
