Two officials of the Dnieper City Council were informed of suspicion of embezzlement of 8.5 million UAH, which were allocated for the defense of the Dnieper.
The Office of the Prosecutor General informs about this.
As indicated, suspicion was reported to the head of one of the departments of the Dnieper City Council and his deputy regarding the embezzlement of property.
According to the investigation, city council officials organized a scheme to steal budget funds allocated for the implementation of a program to promote the territorial defense of the Dnieper.
It is reported that they purchased the necessary inventory items for the needs of military units in the city. During the procurement procedure, the goods were not properly and economically determined, which led to deliberate inflated prices.
“With their illegal actions, the suspects caused damage to the local budget of more than UAH 8.5 million,” notes the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Law enforcement officers conducted six authorized searches. Documents, notebooks with rough notes, mobile phones and computer equipment were found and seized.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure is now being decided.
