The court case of self-defense of blogger Sergei Sternenko was closed by the Primorsky District Court of Odessa.
He announced this on Tuesday.
“The case regarding my self-defense is closed,” Sternenko said.
“The prosecution did not prove my guilt; there was no intent to murder in my actions. And it couldn’t be, because I was defending my life during the third ordered attack in 2018 in Odessa,” the blogger said.
“It was a very difficult path to prove that you had the right to defend yourself when Russian agents, Avakov and many other creatures like Kiva, Shufrich, Dubinsky and the like pressed against it. But we won. Not me, but all of us. Everyone who did not remain silent, who went out to protests and also fought for the right to protection. Thank you,” Sternenko said.
The blogger also said that he is confident that “the person who ordered these attacks will be punished.”
“But that will be a completely different story. It will definitely happen,” said the blogger.
Since 2014, Sergei Sternenko has been attacked three times. During the last one, in May 2018, the blogger was attacked near the entrance of his house by two men. According to investigators, the suspect fatally injured one of them, 28-year-old Ivan Kuznetsov. The second attacker, Alexander Isaikul, fled the scene.
Sternenko connected the attack with his activities as an activist and protests against developments in Odessa.
