Some gas consumers paid gas to the former supplier after they were automatically transferred to the state company, but no one returned this overpayment to them.

Funds from former suppliers are not transferred
Naftogaz explained that funds are not automatically transferred from the former supplier to the new one, because there is no mechanism for this.
Anyone who is faced with the problem of transferring money to former suppliers is advised to contact the supply company where the money was sent with a corresponding statement. The former supplier does not have the right to refuse to return overpayments; this is provided for by the legislation of Ukraine.
What to do to get a refund
1. contact the previous gas supply company in person and write an application for a refund of the overpayment;
2. the previous gas supply company must respond within 5 business days and return the overpayment;
Only the client has the right to withdraw his overpayment from the previous gas supplier. Unfortunately, there is no current mechanism for transferring funds or mutual settlements between suppliers.
If the previous supplier ignores the written request to return overpayments to the consumer, the latter has the right to receive compensation in the amount and manner established by the Minimum Standards and Requirements for the Quality of Service to Consumers and Natural Gas Supply, approved by Resolution of NEURC dated September 21, 2017 No. 1156.
