VAKS sentenced former deputy of the Poltava Regional Council from the Servant of the People Alexander Smirnov to 5 years in prison for embezzling UAH 100 thousand in aid for the treatment of a relative. Thus, the deputy took possession of the money (Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code).
At the same time, his cousin Tatyana Polishko was acquitted. This was appealed. According to the prosecution, Smirnov recruited his sister in order to arrange for her 100 thousand benefits for treatment.
The consultant of the department for ensuring the activities of the management of the executive apparatus of the Poltava Regional Council, Marina Didenko, was also accused in the case, but she agreed to an agreement with the prosecutor.
