The SBU exposed two deputies of the Bibr city council in the Lviv region for taking a bribe, who demanded a bribe of 30 thousand dollars from an entrepreneur for the unhindered provision of land for rent.
They were detained when they received half of the amount - 15 thousand dollars. Chairman of the Land Commission Andrei Alfavitsky and member of the Commission on Finance and Budget Maryan Naugolnik were detained.
As the SBU of Lviv region and the special prosecutor's office in the field of defense of the Western region said, one of the detained deputies heads the standing commission on land relations and architecture and is an active military man, and the other is a member of the standing commission on economic issues, finance and budget.
It was established that these persons conspired and demanded a bribe from the head of the enterprise for approval by the relevant commission of documentation on the extension of the long-term lease of a land plot of 1.5 hectares in the Lviv region. At the same time, they pledged not to create artificial obstacles to the entrepreneur’s business activities. Such services were valued at $30,000,” the defense special prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
The suspects were detained after they received part of the illegal benefit in the amount of $15,000. Deputies were informed of suspicion that an official had received an unlawful benefit (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code). The court chose preventive measures for them in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of more than 600 thousand UAH each.
Law enforcement officials have not released any further details of the case. According to ZAXID.NET, a deputy from Batkivshchyna, the head of the commission on land relations and architecture, Andrei Alfavitsky, and a deputy from the VARTA party, Maryan Naugolnik, who is a representative of the commission on economic issues, finance and budget, were detained on suspicion of bribery.
