Ukrainian deputies are waging a war over real estate and new cars

This may not be their property, but “another right of use”

Declarations of Ukrainian people's deputies for 2022 are attracting increasing public attention. It turns out that every third deputy acquired a new car or real estate during the first year of the war.

A study of the EP portal revealed that representatives of the Servant of the People party and the Doverie business group are taking greater part in this “procurement program.”

According to the analysis, in 2022, deputies declared the purchase of 134 new cars, which happened in just the first year of a full-scale war. It also became known that during the same year, people’s representatives acquired 260 new real estate properties.

Mercedes and Lexus became the leading companies in the world of automobiles for deputies. They seem ready to swear their love for these brands.

Despite the overall increase in assets, the proportion of MPs owning cars and real estate has declined since February 2022. Before this date, 58% of cars and 59% of real estate were owned by MPs, while after this date these figures dropped to 45%.

However, most of the declared property is leased or “other right of use”.

An easement is the right of the owner of a land plot to use part of the neighboring territory for certain needs. Thus, deputies can use land plots or real estate without being their direct owners.

In relation to vehicles, this may mean that deputies use the cars of relatives or friends. This approach allows you to avoid direct ownership of the car, but still use it in everyday life.

So if you see a people’s deputy in a “cool car,” it may not be his property, but “another right of use.”

Experts note that the change in the way of owning real estate can be associated with the influence of the war, in which many Ukrainians prefer not to invest in real estate.

With regard to cars, it is assumed that deputies avoid demonstrating the fact that they were purchased during hostilities.
