According to the National Police of Ukraine, on April 20, at about 01:40, near the village of Yalanets, Gaisinsky district, Vinnytsia region, employees of the patrol police response sector of police department No. 1 of the Gaisinsky district administration stopped a car.

During the check, the passengers in the car used firearms. One police officer, 20-year-old Maxim Zaretsky, was killed, and the second was injured.

Thanks to the efforts of the operational services, it was possible to identify persons likely involved in the crime. The orientation has been sent to all regional units of the National Police.

Currently, the scene of the incident has been inspected, material evidence has been seized, and the involvement of two servicemen in the crime is being verified.

The Southern Defense Forces note that a year ago the suspects were part of the 28th separate mechanized brigade, but are now active military personnel and serving in another military unit.

At the moment, it is reported that the perpetrators of the attack on the police have been detained. According to available information, they surrendered on their own
