The head of Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, said that next week the situation in the Ukrainian energy system will become significantly more complicated than the current one.
On air UP. Live, he reported that it will not be possible to avoid shutdowns of household consumers due to two main factors: the projected increase in energy consumption due to the return of heat and the planned repair of the next nuclear power unit.
“From tomorrow we will have reduced capacity at nuclear power plants, as expected. In the mid-twenties of June, an additional reduction in capacity at the nuclear power plant is also planned as part of the repair campaign,” Kudritsky noted.
He explained that it was impossible to reschedule or postpone these repairs.
The repair campaign involves fuel reloading, during which repairs are carried out. Because fuel can only produce energy for a certain amount of time and then needs to be replaced, these repairs are difficult to delay. Perhaps they can be postponed for several days or a week, but they cannot be completely canceled, since this is due to the reloading of fuel at the nuclear power plant,” he added.
The situation in the Ukrainian energy system will depend on the season. In winter 2024/25, Ukrainians may only receive electricity for five to six hours a day, but this will depend on the circumstances.
