The Federal Bureau of Investigation found that six addresses hosted bitcoins that belonged to the North Korean hacker group Lazarus.
The department emphasized that cybercriminals can sell this cryptocurrency for about $40 million at the current exchange rate.
In addition to Lazarus, BTC may also belong to another Korean hacker organization, APT38.
In total, 1,580 bitcoins are stored in wallets affiliated with criminals, which were stolen from users of cryptocurrency services in 2023.
The criminals could have obtained BTC stolen as a result of the hacking of Alphapo, Atomic Wallet and CoinsPaid. The damage from attacks on these platforms amounted to almost $200 million, the FBI emphasized.
