Elon Musk and Sam Altman argued about the sense of humor of chatbots

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed skepticism about the humorous abilities of Elon Musk's recently announced chatbot Grok. The billionaire did not leave the attack unanswered.

The businessman created the AI company xAI in April to compete with OpenAI. At the same time, it became known that Musk purchased 10,000 graphics processors for the project.

On November 4, the firm announced the launch of Grok, a neural network modeled after the travel guide from Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series of science fiction novels.

Having declared a number of advantages of the chatbot in relation to competitors like GPT-3.5, xAI still compared it not with the latest version of the solution from OpenAI.

Access to Musk's neural network is open to a limited number of users from the United States.

According to Altman, Grok answers questions with "embarrassing grandpa jokes."

In response, Musk hinted at the boringness of GPT by rhyming the number of its newest version 4 [four] with snore [snore].

“From a humor standpoint, GPT-4 is about as funny as a screen door on a submarine. “Humor is clearly prohibited at OpenAI, as are many other topics that they censor,” the businessman said.

Despite the fact that Altman did not continue the discussion, Musk after some time returned to the topic of confrontation between chatbots. He illustrated the superiority of Grok with a famous internet meme.

Musk is one of the co-founders of OpenAI, but the entrepreneur left the company in 2019 due to a possible conflict of interest.
