Property worth a million dollars: journalists found the undeclared wealth of the head of the Economic Court of Kyiv Bosogo

“Naked and barefoot” or underground millionaire? Vadim Bosoy, the chairman of the Economic Court of Kyiv, which considers the country’s most high-profile economic cases (such as the Kolomoisky or Fuk trials), is, judging by his official declarations, a rather modest servant of Themis. And yet, he doesn’t “shine” his family before the NAPC, and for good reason. After all, luxury apartments and cars are registered in the name of the judge’s wife and children.

How did the head of the capital's Economic Court, Vadim Bosoy, acquire valuable real estate and why is he hiding it from the public?

“The Ukrainian judicial system has been in a fever for a very long time. The servants of Themis carry out a marathon of scandals, it seems, continuously. Explain where the estates for the judge’s salary come from - they swallowed their tongues. While researching this branch of government, which requires deep reforms, we became interested in another judge who is worth paying attention to,” the reporter comments.

The public organization “People's Circle” contacted the editorial office. In their appeal, activists provided a whole list of possible corruption offenses of Judge Vadim Bosogo, who heads the Economic Court of Kyiv. It is this court that considers high-profile cases concerning economic issues and abuses.

It is noteworthy that, judging by the official declaration, the influential servant of Themis is almost homeless and does not have his own car. In reports filed before 2021, Vadim Bosoy indicated that he lives in an apartment owned by his mother and drives a 2014 Lexus NX 300, owned by his retired father from Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky.

What else is known about the condition of the Barefoot family?

According to our colleagues at the Obozrevatel publication, in 2014-2015, Vadim Bosogo’s total income amounted to 135 thousand dollars. His bank accounts contain about 15 thousand dollars and 200 thousand hryvnia. But the judge kept one and a half million hryvnia in cash.

Obozovtsy also found out that Mr. Bosoy Jr. travels in another of his father’s cars – a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 300.

Journalists were convinced of this with their own eyes, having recorded this car under the walls of the Economic Court, during a visit to one of the court hearings, which was conducted by the above-mentioned judge.

What about other family members?

In the declarations of Vadim Bosy, available for viewing by journalists, there is no mention of either his wife or children. Information about the judge’s divorce is in his profile: Vadim officially separated from Ekaterina Bosa (nee Prokopchuk) in 2008.

According to Obozrevatel journalists, the woman owned an apartment in the Dnieper district of Kyiv, which she purchased in 2012 for 70 thousand dollars, where our hero previously lived and was registered. And the publication “Censor” claims that it still owns Daihatsu Terios cars, the right to drive which was registered with Vadim Bosy.

The woman also purchased the aforementioned Lexus, which she re-registered in her father’s name, and a Honda CR-V, registered in Ekaterina’s mother’s name. She also forked out money to buy an elite Mercedes-Benz ML 350 produced in 2011, the price of which only on the secondary market starts at 20 thousand dollars. The couple periodically traveled abroad with these cars from 2015 to 2017. But Vadim Bosy’s declarations do not contain any information about the property of his ex-wife and the judge’s use of this property.

From state registers, the editors of StopCor learned that in 2019, Bosogo’s ex-squad acquired a three-room apartment in the Jack House residential complex in the center of Kyiv. The cost of similar ones now starts from 400 thousand dollars. She also became the owner of two parking spaces, the price of each of which is now within 4 million UAH.

Journalists tried to find one of the Bosykh spouses at this address, but in vain.

According to information. Media, Ekaterina Bosa at one time worked in various positions in the Kiev Regional Council. This was confirmed by the institution in response to a request from StopCor, from which it became clear that the woman’s official income does not at all correspond to expenses for luxury apartments and cars.

“Bosa Ekaterina Mikhailovna, worked in the executive office of the Kyiv Regional Council from November 14, 2005 to November 24, 2015. The amount of accrued wages and bonuses to Ekaterina Bosiy during her tenure in these positions in the executive office of the Kyiv Regional Council is UAH 314,745.”

The couple also have children.

According to Oboz, the Bosykh couple have a daughter, Irina, who was given an apartment in the center of the capital with an area of more than 100 square meters for her 22nd birthday. And the house is located in a complex located near the mother’s residential complex. The cost of similar apartments now starts from 2,00 thousand dollars. But there is nothing about this in the judge’s declarations either.

Moreover, according to media reports, after the divorce, Barefoot had a son in 2011. To check this and the possible fact of a fictitious divorce between Vadim and Ekaterina Bosykh, StopCor sent a request to the Ministry of Justice.

Another fact that we paid attention to is the parents of the servant of Themis. According to Antikor, father and mother Peter and Valentina Bosi live in Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky, Kyiv region. However, the judge’s mother also purchased an apartment in the Dnieper district of Kyiv for 53 thousand dollars.

“We also found this information in the state register of rights to real estate. And what’s interesting is that the acquired square meters are located in a neighboring house from where her son is registered and lived. The father is the owner of two Lexuses - their total cost at the time of purchase is 130 thousand dollars. In addition, judging by the available declarations, the father “tossed considerable sums of money into the living” of his son-judge: in 2016 - a million hryvnia, in 2015 - another million , in 2014 it was a little more modest - “only” 500 thousand,” comments Denis Stradetsky.

According to information and analytical platforms, Bosogo’s parents are the managers of Sobin LLC in Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky.

Where did such funds come from to buy apartments in Kyiv and millions of gifts for the judge’s son?

With this question, the StopCora team went to Vadim Petrovich’s parents. They were not at the enterprise, but Peter Bosoy promised to come. The journalists waited for the owner of the company for about an hour, but Bosoy Sr. never arrived.

Judge Bosoy himself is known for his high-profile cases.

This includes the seizure of UAH 2 billion from the Kyiv metro for the Russian oligarch Pavel Fuks. And an example of the case of the lawsuit and grief of Kolomoisky against the NBU for invalidating loan agreements.

And in May 2019, Vadim Bosoy visited the office of the former chairman of the Kyiv District Administrative Court, Pavel Vovk. This became known from the scandalous films published by our colleagues from the Investigation.Info project.

As it turned out, after Vovk’s negotiations with his colleague and several mysterious calls from Vovk, Judge Bosoy made a decision in favor of Igor Kolomoisky.

Bosy himself refused to provide any comments to journalists.

“At other meetings, he most likely began to avoid meetings. The last hope for a rendezvous with Bosim was in his waiting room. We signed up twice. However, first he took a vacation on the specified date, and on the second date he suddenly began to get sick,” Stradetsky said.

However, even with the naked eye one can see a significant discrepancy between official earnings and the standard of living of a judge, and this is only based on declarations, the investigator summarizes.

Let us remind you that NABU and SAPO suspect the ex-chairman and judge of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vsevolod Knyazev of receiving unlawful benefits in the amount of $2.7 million. Ukrainian oligarch Konstantin Zhevago, according to investigators, provided this bribe so that the Supreme Court would make a decision in his favor regarding the purchase of 40% of the shares of the Poltava Mining and Processing Plant.

On May 18, the High Council of Justice authorized the arrest of Judge Knyazev. On September 6, the High Anti-Corruption Court extended the detention of former Chairman of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev until October 16, but the day before it reduced the amount of bail.
