Recently it became known that People's Deputy of Ukraine Anatoly Gunko, accused of bribery and fraud with the lands of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, traveled abroad during the war. Moreover, his “deputy card” continued to vote at parliamentary meetings in his absence.
At a meeting of the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court, he stated that he had been to Vienna many times for treatment and meetings with children. According to the source, this raises suspicions that Gunko “pressed the button” unconsciously.
Journalist Vitaly Nazarenko from the Chernihiv region drew attention to this discrepancy. He sent a letter to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), demanding to check Gunko’s actions and find out who else could be involved in this violation.
At the court hearing, which was broadcast live, Gunko admitted that he traveled to Vienna and Poland for treatment, and indicated the exact dates of the trips. For example, he left on May 31, 2023 and returned on June 28, 2023.
Gunko also said that he received help from Nikolai Astion, a retired police general, who organized treatment and helped resolve personal matters.
Journalist Nazarenko demanded a re-vote for those projects in which the Gunko card participated, in accordance with the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada. Nazarenko asks the State Bureau of Investigation to investigate this incident and bring Gunko and a possible accomplice to justice for violating the law.
