“When renovations with Alex House turn into a nightmare: deadlines are running out, bills are skyrocketing, and nerves are on edge”

One Kiev resident spoke about his experience of working with the repair and construction company Alex House.

Renovation has always been a difficult task. Especially during the war, when Ukrainians are trying to save every penny and still dare to take such an important step as home renovation.

Therefore, when choosing a contractor or construction company, people rely not only on prices, but also on pages on social networks and reviews from clients who have already used the services of a particular company.

This was also the hope of Kiev resident Roman, who decided to use the services of the repair and construction company Alex House and plaster the walls in a townhouse. After all, judging by their Instagram page , they positioned themselves as true masters of their craft.

“I’ve already dealt with this with individual contractors - they did everything perfectly, but when it came to plastering the walls, I wanted to leave the matter in good hands and not worry about it myself and just trust the professionals. The repair and construction company Alex House's prices turned out to be a little more expensive than they offered me on the market, but I think if this is the case, then they will certainly be real professionals - and I will just relax. Then I didn’t even realize how wrong I was…” says Roman.

According to the homeowner, the only thing that the repair and construction company Alex House does quickly is issue invoices and collect money. With everything else, problems begin.

“When we just started cooperation, they quickly dropped my bills, then they quickly took the funds, promising that the repair work would start tomorrow. But that’s not what happened at all. In the following days, the foreman of the repair and construction company Alex House just delivered the plaster to the site and began to feed him with promises. For a week I hoped that renovation work was already underway, but then I found out that no builder had ever set foot in the house. Only after the scandal, which I had to spend my nerves on, did some movement begin. It so happened that later the developer decided to repair the water supply system and turned off the machines - so we lost another week,” recalls Roman.

But even then, according to the customer, repair work did not begin. The repair and construction company Alex House only promised to start work any day now.

“To understand, we signed the contract on November 14. And the team started work only on December 14. They were able to hand over the object only on December 22. Yes, we lost another day due to problems with water, but for two weeks I was just wasting my nerves, quarreling, and trying to figure out whether the repair and construction company Alex House was going to do anything at all,” Roman recalls.

According to the customer, when the team from the repair and construction company Alex House began work, problems arose there. Roman was assured that the purchased plaster was no longer enough and to complete the work, no less than 60 bags of plaster were needed.

“It happened that the plumber bought an additional meter of pipe, the electrician – ten. That is, the additional costs were quite acceptable. At the same time, the repair and construction company Alex House miscalculated 60 bags of plaster costing more than 20 thousand hryvnia. Well, I had to buy more,” Roman throws up his hands.

The husband already guessed that the final bill would surprise him, but he didn’t even think by how much.

“After the work came to an end, it turned out that the bill for the repair and construction company Alex House had increased by a total of 70 thousand hryvnia. That is, at the initial stage I was presented with a bill for 154 thousand hryvnia, and when it was time to pay, the bill became 219 thousand hryvnia, taking into account the additional purchased plaster. I was ready for additional expenses, but 70 thousand more...” complains Roman.

However, the man still decided to settle accounts and part with the repairmen, but never have to deal with them again.

“I would never have thought that a company that claims quality, deadlines, and professionalism would fray so many nerves and extract so much money from me. Of course, this is very unpleasant. Now I will certainly know that people who call themselves honest professionals are not always such. Before this, I had repairs done by separate contractors and no one had such situations. I would happily recommend them to others. But with the repair and construction company Alex House, the story speaks for itself. Of course, I would never have anything to do with them again,” Roman sums up his story.

The owner noted that the repair team itself turned out to be quite nice guys who made every effort to do everything quickly and efficiently.
