On June 25, NABU exposed an organized group that misappropriated funds from Ukrzaliznytsia JSC during repair work on track machines.
This is stated in a statement by the department's press service.
The investigation was able to find out that in 2021, the ex-director of the production structural unit “Cherkasy Track Repair and Mechanical Plant” of the branch “Center for Repair and Operation of Track Machines” of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” organized a group that included current and former employees of the plant, with the aim of misappropriating funds .
Note: from April 2021 to February 2022, the suspect achieved the advance election of certain companies as winners of the purchase of track machine repair services. It is noteworthy that members of the organized group falsified documents, but in reality no repair work was carried out.
It is known that as a result of such “activities,” the defendants in the case managed to take possession of 17.1 million that belonged to Ukrzaliznytsia.
Law enforcement officers reported suspicion to 5 persons involved, and the leader of the criminal scheme was detained. They are charged with an article that provides for liability for misappropriation, embezzlement or taking possession of someone else's property through abuse of official position by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. They face up to 12 years in prison.
Let us recall that on June 6 it became known that JSC Ukrzaliznytsia intends to build gas power plants with a total capacity of 250 MW in different regions. If funding is available, the project could begin this summer.
