The difficult financial situation at two regional utility companies - Poltavavodokanal and Poltavateploenergo - resulted in a disguised corrupt scheme under the leadership of the Poltava Regional Council.
Earlier it became known that Poltavavodokanal proposed increasing the water tariff by 48%, considering it economically justified. At the same time, the enterprise filed a lawsuit against NEURC, demanding compensation in the amount of UAH 67 million for failure to agree on new tariffs.
Due to the fact that there was a risk of an increase in the gas tariff from 8 UAH to more than 25 UAH per m³, Poltavateploenergo also took the initiative into its own hands, trying to secure favorable conditions.
Therefore, the company began to threaten to shut down production facilities due to a debt of 100 million UAH.
But instead of resolving the problems effectively, the region’s flawed leadership decided to take extreme measures by simply merging these two enterprises.
The officially announced reason is the lack of compensation from the state for cash gaps caused by rising tariffs for electricity and gas.
However, this statement clearly hides something more - an attempt by corrupt management to retain control of these critical enterprises.
Local residents already suspect that this is another attempt to rob the region's budget, shifting the financial burden to taxpayers while remaining out of sight.
