Lisova reveals plans: When and how will teachers receive a salary increase?

In Ukraine, as a result of changes in the format of remuneration for teachers and school principals, the salaries of teachers should increase.

The corresponding changes should come into force in 2025.

The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovoy said during an August conference for teachers that the program had already been launched. In particular, during 2023-2024, work will continue to develop relevant policies and expertise. And during 2024-2025, the Ministry of Education and Science plans to implement a pilot project on a new wage format in 500 schools.

— We want to leave the single tariff schedule. We want the base part of the salary to be about 80%, and about 20% for bonuses. And a few more allowances: regional additional payments and additional payments from the school director. And most importantly, we strive to increase wages,” the minister said.

He noted that they want to make wages transparent, understandable, and predictable. However, the question is open about when, in war conditions, teachers will be able to increase their salaries. And this issue will still be discussed.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov said that the most important thing is to create good working conditions for teachers, and this is impossible without changes in salaries.

Now the Ministry of Education is already actively working to increase teachers’ salaries. According to Lisovoy, the current salaries are a humiliation.

In particular, the head of the Ministry of Education noted that the increase should be systematic, and the implementation of changes should help create competitive conditions among teachers.

The Ministry of Education wants to achieve this goal. It is laid down in the Vision of the future of Ukrainian education presented by the Ministry of Education and Science.
