Mayor of Kyiv Klitschko is preparing for a second attack on the capital?

Klitschko warned of a possible attack on Kyiv and called for strengthening the defense of the capital

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, warns of a possible re-attack of the enemy on the capital of Ukraine. Speaking at a session of the City Council, he said that the city is actively preparing for this, financing the construction of protective fortifications in neighboring areas.

“Kyiv was and remains a target for Putin, because the capital is the heart of the country,” Klitschko emphasized.

He also noted that the city is now much better prepared for this than two years ago, and if Putin decides to attack Kyiv, it will be a bloody decision.

Klitschko called on the West to strengthen support for Ukraine, in particular to provide more air defense assets.

“We urgently need more air defense, more anti-aircraft missiles!” – he emphasized.

The authorities claim that during the period of the full-scale invasion, several defense lines were built around the capital. The first line, which began to be built in May 2022, is located far enough from the city to avoid the possibility of finishing off with artillery to residential areas. The total length of all fortification lines exceeds a thousand kilometers.

“Detailed information about the organization of defense lines, the location of forces and assets, the build-up of measures, etc. is classified information that the enemy should not know. Therefore, we cannot disclose most of the information about the defense of Kyiv and the region from the northern direction. However, we can assure that defense structures around the capital are being systematically built up, the length of the border lines is increasing every day, and reliability and efficiency are increasing. Every day, thousands of military personnel take care of the protection of our citizens,” said a representative of the capital’s authorities.
