Billionaire and CEO of the tech giant Dell Group, Michael Dell, expressed interest in Bitcoin in correspondence with the founder of MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor.
“Scarcity creates value,” Dell posted on his page.
Saylor responded by noting that Bitcoin represents digital scarcity. Dell posted his post on his own page. He later published another note on the topic of Bitcoin.
It contained an image of Cookie Monster from the TV show Sesame Street, who, instead of cookies, was eating the first cryptocurrency.
Note that the situation caused excitement in the cryptocurrency community for several reasons. Dell was among the top 10 richest people on the planet in 1999 and 2000. After that, he periodically made it into the top 20.
At the same time, the entrepreneur himself spoke positively about the industry. In 2021, he publicly stated that blockchain technology is greatly undervalued.
His company, Dell Technologies, accepted Bitcoin as a means of payment from 2014 to 2017. This option was later removed due to “low demand,” as the company explained.
MicroStrategy, founded by Sailor, is one of the largest Bitcoin holders in the world. In June 2024 alone, she purchased 11,931 BTC.
