Deputy Minister, Ivan Gavrilyuk, announced his intention to increase the production of mortar mines and begin production of shells.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense plans to purchase 750 armored combat vehicles of various types from domestic manufacturers.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Gavrilyuk, in an interview for Army Inform.
According to him, now Ukrainian manufacturers meet the needs of the armed forces only partially. The reasons for this are different.
“For a long time there was not enough funds for government orders, as a result, not all specialized enterprises can quickly establish conveyor production of equipment. At the same time, the President set the task of maximizing the utilization of domestic defense industry enterprises, expanding and scaling production,” Gavrilyuk noted.
According to him, the Ministry of Defense is going to order more than 750 armored combat vehicles of various types from domestic manufacturers. Moreover, it is also planned to increase the production of mortar mines and begin the production of shells.
In the same interview, Gavrilyuk said that the 2024 state budget allocates 255 billion hryvnia for weapons, military equipment and ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Of this, 175 billion hryvnia will be spent on missile weapons and ammunition. For the purchase of weapons and military equipment - UAH 83.2 billion, taking into account the UAH 30 billion allocated by the Ministry of Digital Development for the purchase of UAVs.
“I repeat that the lion’s share of the financial resource will be directed to loading the production capacity of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. “In order to give work to enterprises and support the state’s economy in the current difficult times,” he said.
