Fraudsters have developed a scheme to exploit the Kyivstar glitch

Fraudsters in Ukraine decided to use communication problems with the mobile operator Kyivstar for their own benefit, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

"Attention! New phishing scam. Attackers create fake bots of the Kyivstar telecom operator in instant messengers. Fraudsters distribute phishing links under the pretext of compensation and information about the timing of the resumption of operator services ,” the message says.

Next, the subscriber is asked to follow a link and register to receive money. This is how scammers gain access to pages on social networks and online banking.

“How to protect yourself? Trust only verified information on the official pages of the company. Do not click on dubious links, do not share phone numbers or personal information. Be vigilant and don’t let yourself be deceived ,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Meanwhile, CERT-UA specialists are investigating a cyber attack on the network of the Kyivstar operator.

“Specialists of the Government Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-UA, which operates under the State Special Communications Service, together with colleagues from the SBU and representatives of the telecom operator are working on investigating the cyber incident. In order to avoid overloading the networks of other operators, at the request of the SBU, the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunications Networks issued an order to temporarily block the national roaming service for Kyivstar subscribers , reported .
