Officials of the apartment maintenance department were detained in Bukovina

The defendants received 7-10% of undue benefits from the amount of work performed. For carrying out repair work on military buildings, the contractor paid 130,000 hryvnia in kickback. The attackers were detained and they were informed of suspicion.

This was reported by the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.

The operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Chernivtsi region of the National Police, together with fellow law enforcement officers, exposed a corruption scheme in the defense sector. The head of the apartment maintenance department (AED) and the engineer of this unit are involved in its organization.

For a 7-10% kickback, they lobbied for the interests of entrepreneurs during government procurement for work on military facilities using budget funds. Contracts were concluded with the winner, and settlements were carried out after the completion of work certificates.

According to the investigation, a contract was signed with the winner to carry out repair work on military buildings. The agreed amount of undue benefit was received depending on the degree of work performed on the site and the transfer of money to the contractor’s accounts.

On August 13, law enforcement officers detained the head of the KEV and an engineer after receiving the next tranche - 88,400 hryvnia. Previously, they received another 41,600 hryvnia. The total amount of funds received is 130,000 hryvnia. The attackers were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Based on the evidence received, investigators from the TU GBR, located in the city of Khmelnytsky (with a deployment in Rivne) announced suspicions to the serviceman and the official under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment - imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, with confiscation of property.

The exposure activities were carried out jointly with the SBU in the Chernivtsi region under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region.
