Chernyshev and Kuleba may be appointed ministers this week – media

This week, a number of appointments could be made in the Cabinet of Ministers, including the positions of ministers of infrastructure and regional policy.

In particular, the post of head of the Ministry of Regional Policy may again be taken by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Alexei Kuleba. In turn, the current head of the Transcarpathian OVA, Viktor Nikita, may be appointed in his place. It is quite possible that in addition to the ministerial portfolio, Kuleba will receive the status of deputy prime minister.

For the post of head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, interlocutors call the favorite the chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Alexey Chernyshev, who, obviously, will also become deputy prime minister. If Alexey Chernyshev does leave the position of CEO of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, then in the future one more interesting appointment can be made in the near future: the CEO of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine could be headed by the head of the Lvov OBA Maxim Kozitsky, to whom the topic of oil and gas is not at all indifferent.

RBC-Ukraine's interlocutors previously said that the head of the Ministry of Strategic Industry, Alexander Kamyshin, could be transferred to the post of head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, but this option was later abandoned.

A number of RBC-Ukraine sources note that to fill vacancies in the Cabinet of Ministers, in particular the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, it would be logical to hold a Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which will take place on June 11-12 in Berlin. It is possible that the appointment may take place on June 4-6.

However, the final decision on all personnel issues will be made this evening at a meeting of the leadership of parliament, Servant of the People and the president.

Let us recall that on May 9, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada, with 272 votes in favor, dismissed Alexander Kubrakov from the post of Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine - Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure. Officially, as Kubrakov himself stated, neither the president nor the prime minister told him the reasons for his resignation. RBC-Ukraine's interlocutors pointed to different reasons. Among them, he devoted too little time to the topic of regional politics, and parliamentarians did not like his close cooperation with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Let us note that this resignation was preceded by the news that they want to split the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure into two: the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Regional Policy, respectively. And, as sources said, Kubrakov will not be appointed to vacant positions.
