A deputy was detained on the border with Slovakia and is accused of activities against Ukraine.

A man was detained near the border with Slovakia, who turned out to be a deputy of one of the city councils of the Cherkasy region, who is accused, in particular, of justifying and denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Border guards of the Chop detachment detained a citizen of Ukraine who tried to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border. During a patrol, he was discovered by the border patrol of the “Velikiy Berezny” department a few hundred meters from the state border. An unknown person who was walking in the direction of Slovakia was stopped near a security fence.

During the inspection, it was established that the detainee is a deputy of one of the city councils of the Cherkasy region, who is accused of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code “Justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants.”

The State Border Guard Service reported that the man was taken to the border unit in order to bring him to administrative responsibility under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses “Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine.”

After the necessary measures were taken, the detainee was handed over to employees of the relevant law enforcement agencies.
