NABU announced suspicion to one of Ermak’s ex-deputies Andrey Smirnov

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced a suspicion against the former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Smirnov, whose brother was found to have luxury real estate and cars purchased during the war last year.

this with reference to their own sources in anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies.

In particular, the publication ZN.UA wrote about this. In addition, the information was confirmed by several interlocutors of Ukrayinska Pravda in law enforcement agencies.

Let us recall that in February 2023, elite real estate and cars purchased during the war were discovered in the possession of the brother of then-deputy Ermak. We were talking about apartments in a new building in Lviv, a plot of land in the Carpathians, a parking space in Kyiv, as well as Volkswagen Multivans, BMWs and a motorcycle.

According to information from the ZN.UA publication, last fall NABU conducted searches of the driver, mother and brother of Andrei Smirnov. Investigative actions concerned the case of acquired property by brother Igor.

Also, as the publication’s journalists write, criminal proceedings were opened against Andrei Smirnov in March last year.

“In March 2023, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office opened criminal proceedings against Andrei Smirnov based on a statement from the public organization “Anti-Corruption Human Rights Council” about the commission of corruption crimes by the deputy head of the OP of Ukraine. It was about property registered in his brother’s name, which, according to the organization, was acquired personally by Andrei Smirnov,” the publication writes.

Let us recall that Andrei Smirnov was dismissed from the post of deputy chairman of the OP on March 29, 2024. He worked in this position since September 10, 2019 and oversaw judicial reform.
