The National Bank of Ukraine called on residents of the country to prepare food supplies: only 2 weeks left before the onset of “hour X”

According to a statement by Andriy Pyshny, head of the National Bank of Ukraine, starting from the beginning of January 2024, food prices in Ukraine are expected to increase and inflation will accelerate. Information about this was published on the official page of the NBU.

According to the head of the National Bank, the rise in price of products cannot be avoided. On average, prices for basic food products will rise by 5% in January.

But residents of Ukraine still have two weeks until the end of 2023 to stock up on food. Prices for this period of time will be even more or less stable, says the head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Andrey Pyshny cites the rise in logistics costs as a result of the blocking of the Ukrainian border as the main reasons for the rise in prices. In Pyshny’s opinion, the products that are brought to Ukraine from Europe will become more expensive first of all:

- dairy products,
- citrus fruits,
- pasta,
- carbonated drinks,
greenhouse vegetables,
- everything that gets to Ukraine through roundabout routes.

The head of the National Bank also names another factor that will lead to a rapid rise in prices - a reduction in stocks of vegetables collected in Ukraine. Most of the new harvest was sold out in the fall, and a very limited supply of vegetable products was stored for winter storage.

Thus, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine directly calls on the residents of Ukraine to make a feasible supply of everyday products. Because in two weeks their prices will begin to rise sharply.
