The national police opened a criminal case against Alexey Arestovich

The police opened criminal proceedings against former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich.

According to the National Police, they were contacted by a group of people’s deputies who announced the possible commission of a criminal offense by a citizen of Ukraine. The appeal allegedly consists of a deliberately false report of a crime, namely, filing an application with the State Bureau of Investigation about the commission of a crime by a people’s deputy.

The case was opened under Part 1 of Art. 383 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – knowingly false information about the commission of a criminal offense.

The case concerns Arestovich’s statement to the State Bureau of Investigation. In September of this year, through the court, he achieved that the State Bureau of Investigation opened a case against the people’s deputy from the “Voice” party, Natalya Pipa.

The essence of the case was that Arestovich decided to protect a street musician in Lvov who was performing a song by Russian rock musician Viktor Tsoi. An administrative report was drawn up against him for petty hooliganism after Pipa’s complaint.

The former adviser to the OP contacted the State Bureau of Investigation and wrote a statement with a request to open criminal proceedings against Natalia Pipa under Part 2 of Art. 161 for inciting national hatred.

And already in October, 29 people’s deputies filed a complaint with the National Police against the ex-adviser of the Office of the President Alexei Arestovich. Then the statement indicated the following reasons for initiating the case:

  • Law of Ukraine No. 2310-IX dated June 19, 2022 introduces strict restrictions on the public use of the musical product of the aggressor state;
  • The Lviv Regional Council has established a moratorium on the public use of any Russian-speaking cultural product since 2018. The legality of this decision was recognized by the Supreme Court of Ukraine;
  • citizens of Ukraine actively defend and will defend their linguistic rights and cultural identity. Especially during the war with Russia. After all, “Whose speech is his power.”

Let us note that Natalya Pipa also reacted on her Facebook and wrote that a case was opened against Arestovich.

Let us remind you that this is not the first open case against Alexey Arestovich. In particular, MP from the Golos party Inna Sovsun also contacted the police about Arestovich’s scandalous statements about harsh treatment of women and neglect of them.
