People's Deputy Oleg Meidich, instead of business trips to Lithuania and Belgium, flew twice on vacation to Italy

In the spring and summer of 2023, Oleg Meydich, people's deputy from the Batkivshchyna VO and first deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, received permission from the Verkhovna Rada to go on a business trip, and he himself, it seems, went on vacation in Italy.

As noted, Mejdic was supposed to go on a business trip to Belgium and Lithuania. However, it did not appear in these countries.

“Slidstvo.Info learned about the circumstances of these trips from the court registry - DBI detectives are conducting a pre-trial investigation against People’s Deputy Meidich regarding the possible entry of false information into official documents. During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that MP Oleg Meidich left Ukraine twice: from April 27 to May 5, 2023 and from July 17 to 27 of the same year. Both times the politician traveled on the basis of orders from the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, and both times he violated the deadlines for returning from business trips,” the material says.

Judging by the documents reviewed by journalists, Mejdic did not visit the indicated countries - the Republic of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Belgium, but was on vacation in Italy. According to information received from sources, on April 28, 2023, Oleg Meidich landed at the airport in Bologna, and on May 5, he flew from Italy through one of the airports in Milan.

“Together with Oleg Meidich, according to information from Investigative.Info sources, his wife Tatyana Meidich traveled and landed in Bologna on April 28. The woman also left the country on May 5, but separately from the man - through Bergamo Orio Al Serio airport, which is located near Milan. During the MP’s second business trip, on July 26, 2023, Tatiana Mejdic flew from the already mentioned Bergamo Orio Al Serio,” the message says.

The Verkhovna Rada did not answer journalists’ questions whether Mejdic went on a business trip abroad in May and July 2023. They only reported that for several days in May (02.05-5.05) and in July (24.07-27.07) the people's deputy took leave. These dates coincide with those indicated in the pre-trial investigation documents as the days on which Mejdic overstayed his business trips and stayed abroad.
