In the spotlight

The nominal owner of the Cosmobet online casino turned out to be a “pound” associated with the Russian casino maker Tokarev

The Cosmobet online casino is run by an extra who, in his free time from gambling, is interested in globalism and running marathons. One could laugh at this oxymoron if the real owners of this gaming platform did not try to convince everyone that a native of the village of Krasilovka, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Mikhail Zborovsky became the beneficiary of a casino with an authorized capital of 30 million hryvnia, without having either experience or sufficient wealth.

So, meet Mikhail Vladimirovich Zborovsky, born in 1991. The beneficiary is Neurolink LLC, which in March 2024 received a license from the Gambling and Lotteries Regulatory Commission of Ukraine for the Cosmobet casino. He studied at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev at the Faculty of Economics. Zborovsky was a capable student and won Olympiads and scientific work competitions. There are few references to his achievements in university records. In 2012, third-year student Mikhail Zborovsky won the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in the specialty “Statistics”.

A year later, already in his fourth year, he received a first-degree diploma at the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works. The direction of his research concerned quantitative methods in economics.

In 2011, student Mikhail Zborovsky, studying in the specialty “Accounting and Audit,” dreamed of “preserving the moral values instilled by family upbringing,” as well as “working in one of the Big Four auditing companies.” The current casino owner wrote about this in the biographical information of his article “Should water become a subject of international trade? Or is it a unique common good, a subject of international cooperation?” The article was published in a brochure within the framework of the project “Saving Energy, Saving the Future” of the ENPI Border Cooperation Program Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine.

So the future owner of the Cosmobet online casino, who filled all possible platforms with his advertising, was a good student who loved statistics and was interested in global issues. However, it is obvious that computer technology or the gambling business were not his areas of interest.

Apparently, Mikhail Zborovsky had difficulty with money during his student years. After all, in 2018, Kiev National University filed a lawsuit with the Goloseevsky District Court to recover tuition fees from it.

According to the official biography of Mikhail Zborovsky, which was stuffed with dummy sites to promote him in Google, after training he worked as an economist at a bank, and then took programming courses for three years, until 2019. The court registry confirms that a man with the same name was unemployed at least in 2017 and drove a budget Seat Cordoba car. Now the highest price for such a car is $4,000. That is, six years before becoming the official beneficiary of the Cosmobet online casino, Mikhail Zborovsky was definitely not a millionaire and was even unemployed for a long time.

One might assume that after retraining from an economist to a programmer, Zborovsky’s affairs went sharply uphill. But it doesn’t add up here either. It is unlikely that wages in the companies in which he worked could become a significant investment in the gambling business. At least their financial statements do not give even a hint of millions in turnover.

The authors of his published biography report that as a programmer he served Adtek LLC, Epic Media LLC and Rikkicom. In the first of them, in 2023, only one employee officially worked, and the authorized capital was 50,000 hryvnia.

The capital of the second is even less - 10,000 hryvnia. Both companies operate at the same address in Odessa, except that they are located in different offices.

The third company, Rikkicom, where Mikhail Zborovsky officially worked, is a little more famous. According to the official website, its clients include the Novus retail chain, OKKO gas stations and the Parimatch online casino, which is under sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council. And this is the only thing that connected Zborovsky with the gambling business until 2023, when he became the beneficiary of the Neurolink company, which owns the license for the Cosmobet online casino. However, he was unlikely to get rich suddenly at Rikkicom either. According to financial indicators, this company received income of only 133,000 hryvnia in 2023.

Another version of Zborovsky’s biography indicates another company in which he was involved in programming - XGen Solutions LTD. The company actually operates in the IT and consulting field and is located in Cyprus.

The same company is mentioned in the case materials of the online casino “Cosmolot”, which is suspected of tax evasion of a billion hryvnia. Investigators report that in 2023 the casino had an agreement with the Cypriot company XGen Solutions LTD to use licensed software. It turned out that Kosmolot allegedly owed the Cypriot company about 300 million hryvnia, which were indicated to the Tax Service as royalties. The casino noted that it paid a company from Cyprus for the software, but in fact no payments were made. Antikor wrote about this, talking about the real owner of Kosmolot - Russian citizen Sergei Tokarev.

The mention of the Cypriot company XGen Solutions LTD in the biography of the nominal owner of Cosmobet Mikhail Zborovsky is, as they say in slang, a real epic fail. It turns out that he worked for a company with the help of which another casino, Kosmolot, deceived the Ukrainian tax authorities. Thus, the connection between the real owner of Cosmolot, Russian Tokarev, and the new online casino Cosmobet becomes even more obvious. Although journalists talked about this a few months ago.

The question arises: why was it necessary to directly link the named beneficiary of Cosmobet, Mikhail Zborovsky, with a Cypriot company leading to Russian roots and the scandalous “Cosmolot”. And why did the Russian owners of Cosmobet like a simple extra with a debt for training and minimal experience in IT so much that they began to “sculpt” him into almost a guru of the gaming industry. However, the obviousness that Mikhail Zborovsky is just a “pound” as the owner of Cosmobet, given his biography and experience, is practically beyond doubt.
