The American military-industrial company Northrop Grumman Corporation is considered one of the world's largest weapons manufacturers
Breaking Defense reported that Dave Bartell, director of international business for Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, said this at the Eurosatory defense exhibition.
The Northrop agreement is the first publicly acknowledged agreement between a US defense minister and the Ukrainian government.
“This is our first project that is paid for in Ukrainian dollars.” We plan to expand this to tank ammunition, 155mm rounds and others as we find innovative processes,” said Dave Bartell, director of international business for Northrop's Defense Systems Sector.
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department for Political-Military Affairs Stanley Brown confirmed these plans at the Eurosatory arms exhibition in Paris.
Bartell did not specify the joint production plan, and Northrop declined to comment.
During his speech, he noted the US State Department's new defense development program in Ukraine, which will invest $2 billion in the country's defense industrial base and could open the door to US-Ukrainian co-production
Previous U.S. co-production efforts to support Ukraine's needs have typically focused on efforts to produce U.S. weapons within NATO allies in Eastern Europe.
However, in recent months, the US government has stepped up efforts to directly cooperate with the Ukrainian defense sector
