A new feature in the BloXroute blockchain provides for blocking transactions from participants subject to OFAC sanctions

The team at bloXroute confirmed compliance with OFAC sanctions requirements. The relay provider will refuse to transmit blocks containing transactions from blacklisted participants.

Ethereum relay provider bloXroute has announced that it will comply with OFAC sanctions. According to the organization, this will not in any way affect the level of decentralization of the network.

“The decision comes into force immediately. All bloXroute relays will reject requests to create blocks if they contain OFAC-sanctioned transactions (their participants are listed on the OFAC SDN list),” the organization said.

bloXroute noted that they remain committed to the decentralized nature of the Ethereum network. At the same time, the supplier is forced to comply with the legal requirements of its jurisdiction.

This decision will not affect the level of centralization of the blockchain in any way, since it “does not need permissions and is unstoppable,” the project team said. The only thing that will change is the percentage of bloXroute “wins”, they emphasized here.

We previously reported that more than 72% of Ethereum blocks are censored . In addition to bloXroute, at least one other relay complies with OFAC sanctions, the community suspects. We're talking about Flashboats.

Moreover, both suppliers are large. Together with Agnostic, which is also subject to regulatory pressure, and Ultrasound, they are responsible for 96% of all blocks.
