NABU agents are now able to use the innovative Crystal tool, which can provide detailed information about the owner and transactions when provided with a wallet address.
As part of the CryptoEdge training, employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) took a course on working with the Crystal blockchain tool from the Bitfury platform. People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this.
Let us remind you that the department announced the start of CryptoEdge training in May 2023. The program was expected to last nine months.
As part of this, 250 NABU employees will learn to use various tools to combat corruption in a new field - cryptocurrency.
According to Zheleznyak, he inquired about the success of the training participants. The politician compared the new tool - Crystal - with a solution called YouControl.
According to the official website , the latter allows you to obtain a complete dossier on a company in Ukraine. The system groups data from more than 180 registries.
Zheleznyak claims that with the help of Crystal, NABU employees will be able to:
- identify suspicious transactions and establish connections between crypto wallets;
- record and track those tranches that are aimed at money laundering;
- detect accounts associated with the support of terrorist groups;
- receive detailed information about suspicious tranches, including basic metadata, including IP.
“[...] Having a wallet address, you can see a lot of interesting things. […] Of course, there are mixers, “left” IP, impersonal wallets. In general, specialists will find a way to avoid being tracked. But something tells me that our officials are not one of them,” the people’s deputy emphasized.
We previously reported that NABU officers discovered a crypto wallet with assets worth almost $1.5 million in possession of a Ukrainian politician. He is involved in a case of theft of public funds.
