Prosecutor of the Yanukovych era Yuri Paliy became the new head of the strategic enterprise Nikolaevgaz

The well-known prosecutor of the Yanukovych era, Yuri Paliy, became the new acting chairman of the board of the strategic enterprise Nikolaevgaz. He took up this position on July 17.

Paliy previously served as director of the legal department at the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration since 2020. From December 2023 to July 2024, he headed the Security Department of the Nikolaev branch of Gazseti. From 2011 to June 2015, he worked as the prosecutor of the city of Nikolaev, but he was fired due to a number of scandals.

Local media report that one of the scandals is related to suspicions of covering up the illegal development of a shopping complex by his brother. In addition, Paliy was involved in the high-profile case of Oksana Makar, who was raped and murdered. The prosecutor was accused of trying to get rid of the suspects, which sparked protests across the country.

Paliy was also criticized for inaction in the Maidan investigation. After lustration, he lost his position as chief prosecutor of Nikolaev, but remained in law enforcement, transferring to the regional prosecutor's office.

According to the declaration for 2023, Paliy owns two apartments and stores 4.7 million hryvnia in cash. His wife Elena Khandusenko has two plots of land and another property with an area of ​​444 square meters. For 2023, Paliy declared 374 thousand hryvnia of salary and 866 thousand hryvnia of income from business activities.
