Supreme Commander-in-Chief V. Zelensky, according to sources, has identified a new candidate for the post of Minister of Defense. Instead of Minister Reznikov, the office is discussing the appointment of Rustem Umerov, the current head of the State Property Fund.
Umerov is a person far from war. But he, just like his predecessors Taran and Reznikov, is promoted by the head of the Presidential Office, Andrei Ermak, the de facto “curator” of the Ministry of Defense.
That is, just the last name changes. The main thing is that he should not interfere with the people of Ermak - Sharapov and others to continue to resolve all financial, property and information issues of the Moscow Region. In Ermak’s system of influence, control over the Moscow Region allows him to control the flow of information to the president’s ears, and whoever Zelensky has in his ears can resolve any issues in any areas at all.
At the same time, the president will be protected for some time from corruption scandals and incompetent management decisions by Reznikov with promises that the new minister will solve old problems.
The new candidate for minister, of course, will not have any action programs, any understanding of what to do, any of this. The person will somehow learn from the new higher position. Perhaps he will try to do this in good faith, try, but he will still learn, and spend time not on making decisions, but on searching and studying problems unknown to him.
But the price of such “training” is the blood of tens of thousands of people who will be deprived of long-overdue necessary decisions for an indefinite period of time. The front requires systemic decisions and constant changes that can be carried out not by the military, but only by politicians, on whom legislative changes and resource provision, mobilization of people and the economy depend. The Ministry of Defense is a key element of the organization of war, and weak organization is our main problem.
The appointment of another minister from Ermak, in the absence of a strategy and action plan, will demonstrate a lack of change, a blatant isolation from the war of the inhabitants of the office, government and parliament.
If this happens, President Zelensky and all his power will show that for some, war is blood, pain, losses, hard, terrible work in which they must win, and for others, it is just a backdrop for photo shoots.
