On the evening of March 5, 2024, the price of Bitcoin set a new all-time high above $69,000. However, subsequently the asset rate fell sharply to $59,000. Against this background, the volume of liquidations on futures on the cryptocurrency market amounted to more than $1 billion in 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours, positions of 296,988 traders were liquidated. Approximately $818 million in losses came from long positions, and almost $235 million from short positions.
The majority of liquidations occurred on trading pairs with Bitcoin - $310.04 million and Ethereum - $186.11 million.
The largest amount of liquidations has traditionally been recorded on the Binance and OKX cryptocurrency exchanges - $402.35 million and $367.59 million, respectively.
It should be noted that the largest liquidation of $9 million was recorded on the Bitmex crypto exchange in the XBT/USD trading pair.
