One of the buildings of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, destroyed by a Russian missile, cannot be restored

As a result of the missile attack on July 8, one building of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital cannot be restored.

The head of the Ministry of Health, Viktor Lyashko, stated this at a briefing.

“We clearly know that this building cannot be restored. And now the process of technical inspection of the premises of the old technical building is underway. Most likely, it will also be subject to demolition,” Lyashko said.

According to the general director of Okhmatdyt, Vladimir Zhovnir, as a result of the Russian strike, all buildings of the hospital were damaged, but the degree of damage varied. Now they must complete an act that will show the cost of restoring the hospital, and next week Okhmatdyt will select a company that will carry out construction work.

Also, part of the historical buildings were stored on the territory of Okhmatdyt, so the Ministry of Culture must assess the damage to them as objects classified as cultural heritage.

According to the minister, in total more than 800 million hryvnia were received for restoration - this is both money that went to the hospital’s charitable accounts and government funds. The priority will be repairs in the 1st, new building, replacement of damaged medical equipment, design and construction of a new building. The state will then finance what will be missing.

According to preliminary estimates, 360-400 million hryvnia are needed to replace the equipment, but engineers are looking to see if there are any visual failures in the entire equipment. Lyashko said that patrons and manufacturers are ready to help with the supply of medical equipment. And everything that is not supplied will be purchased with money that is no longer in the hospital’s account.

Russian strike on Okhmatdyt on July 8

On the morning of July 8, the Russians launched a missile attack on Kyiv. In the Shevchenko district, a rocket hit the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, said mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

As a result of the Russian attack, the buildings of the hospital were damaged, some buildings of the medical facility were destroyed, and windows and glass were broken. Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said that toxicology and oncology departments, intensive care units and operating rooms were damaged as a result of the Russian strike.

Director of Okhmatdyt Vladimir Zhovnir spoke before the UN Security Council regarding the consequences of the Russian missile attack on the hospital.

Each family with children that suffered as a result of an enemy attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv on July 8 will receive a cash payment in the amount of UAH 10,800 for each family member.

The Russian X-101 cruise missile that destroyed the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv on July 8 was equipped with Western-made components. This demonstrates Moscow's success in circumventing sanctions.

On July 10, a boy who was at Okhmatdyt during the missile attack on July 8 died in the hospital.

One of the pilots of the Russian 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division, after the attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, transferred documents about the activities of his military unit and private photos of the command staff to the Ukrainian intelligence chatbot.
