The NABU case on bribery among senior officials of the Poltava Regional State Administration, led by its former head Valery Golovko, begins to fall apart in the fifth year of the investigation.
Golovko’s first deputy, Andrei Pesotsky, is no longer a defendant in the case—SAP has lifted the suspicion against him. In addition, the court returned his 4 million hryvnia deposit.
Of the entire corruption syndicate, the head of the Regional State Administration Valery Golovko and his adviser Alexander Litvinov are still under suspicion. Probably, only one of the most striking episodes of bribery will reach the court - the Mercedes for his birthday.
Regional State Administration officials demanded 176 thousand euros from the owner of Ukrstroydor for the right to be their favorite contractor in road construction. When the businessman was not approved for contracts and was asked to give Golovko a brand new Mercedes-Benz Brabus for his birthday, the businessman went not to the car dealership, but to NABU.
