Judge of the Dnipro Economic Court Artem Sukhovarov, despite his past, continues to rise through the ranks of his career, either with the support of his influential family or through the connections he probably built while “working for Yanukovych.”
Journalists decided to check how one of Yanukovych’s “judges” not only avoided lustration, but was also able to continue working, earning a million annually.
Sukhovarov family of judges and lawyers
You should first start with the judge's marital status and origin. According to data from open sources, Sukhovarov is a member of a well-known family of judges and lawyers who have worked in the field of law for years. His mother, Raisa Sukhovarov, has been working as a lawyer since 1992 and is listed in the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Bar Association, his brother Andrey Sukhovarov has been a judge in the Dnepropetrovsk Administrative Court of Appeal since 2004. He also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Third Administrative Court of Appeal.
In fact, it is worth noting that if Mr. Artem himself is not so public, then his brother not only often appears on the Internet, but also appeared in scandals. For example, in 2017, an administrative case on the illegitimacy of the executive structure (departments, offices and subordinate utility companies) was considered by a body called the Dnepropetrovsk City Council.
Then a civil arrest was made by the panel of judges of the Dnepropetrovsk Administrative Court of Appeal consisting of three people, with the participation of the presiding judge-reporter A.V. Sukhovarov.
There is also information about his cousin, Oksana Sukhovarova, who works in the Kharkov District Administrative Court as a court secretary.
His wife Natalya Sukhovarova is also part of a close circle and works as a private notary. This is also evidenced by data on the declaration of family ties of the judge for the period 2012-2016.
Membership in “Yanukovych’s judges” and other scandals of Sukhovarov
It is interesting that in addition to his family, the judge of the Dnieper Economic Court also became famous thanks to scandals, because at one time he was on the list of “Yanukovych judges”, but strangely escaped lustration. Then he worked in the Economic Court of the Dnepropetrovsk region and continued his family activities.
The Commander-in-Chief published a list of judges who, in February 2014, forgot about their service to Themis and began judging Ukrainians in favor of the traitor president Viktor Yanukovych. It should be noted that these names of dozens of other judges who banned protests and speeches against the authorities throughout Ukraine were on the same list of applicants for acquiring “indefinite” status, guaranteeing them work in the judicial system. Among them, Artem Sukhovarov, according to the publication, helped the president keep power in his hands.
He, along with other judges, forbade publicly condemning the power of Yanukovych. Probably, Sukhovarov was also among those who blocked the holding of rallies and recognized as illegal the appeal of local councils to the country's leadership with a demand to stop the bloodshed on the Maidan and return to the European integration course.
It is interesting that now, according to insider information, Judge Sukhovarov is also aiming for a promotion to the Dnieper Court of Appeal.
Information from the declaration of judge Artem Sukhovarov
First of all, it should be noted that the judge’s declarations are surprising if you analyze them one by one. For example, one year he indicates the ownership of real estate, the owners of this or that property, and the next year he hides the information. And this despite the fact that declarations for 2021 and 2022 were published only in 2023, and two annual declarations were filed for 2020.
Thus, in the declaration for 2022, which Artem Sukhovarov published on December 6, 2023, several interesting positions were indicated. For example, the judge indicated funds in different bank accounts, two cars, but no information about real estate. The situation is the same in the declaration for 2021, but in 2020 he showed that he owns a significant number of apartments and land plots.
Yes, his wife owns three apartments in Dnieper, but he only has a private one. He also has a share of ownership in his parents' apartment. The spouses also have an Office in Dnepr, the property rights to which were acquired in 2013.
In 2013, he acquired several plots of land in the village. Podgorodnoe, Dnepropetrovsk region. He also declared three garages.
For 2022, he declared 1,349,322 UAH of wages, for 2021 - 1,002,471 UAH, and for 2020 - 1,064,576 UAH. The document also states that Sukhovarov received income from the alienation of real estate in the amount of UAH 249,500 and UAH 10,500. But at the same time, the declaration also indicates simply ridiculous amounts - 87 UAH and 385 UAH, indicated as “interest”.
He declared UAH 56,800 in cash, and indicated funds that were placed in three different bank accounts - the total amount is UAH 116,987.
In 2019, he purchased an AUDI Q7 car manufactured in 2017, the cost of which is UAH 640,000. And within three years, in 2022, the judge declared an AUDI A4 car, albeit a slightly older model - in 2009. It cost him 266,181 UAH. It should be noted that in the declaration for 2021, which he published at about the same time - November 23, 2023, the cost of the car was not indicated. Both vehicles are registered to him, but the owner's name is not listed. According to 2020 data, the AUDI Q7 was owned by his wife.
